Congratulations!
I am guessing if you are reading this blog, you are expecting! If not, you know someone close to you who is.
Pregnancy is such an exciting (and exhausting) experience; there's honestly nothing else that truly compares. There is so much that needs to be done to prepare for the arrival of your little one.: child proofing the home, baby registries, preparing the nursery. Often times, it comes with so many questions. One of those questions I can answer for you.:" When should I book my newborn session?"
When To Book Your Newborn Session
I recommend to all my clients to book their session during their second trimester. I recommend this for a few different reasons:
- The first would be, I offer a discount on the session fee for your maternity session when you book a newborn session with me. I recommend maternity session happen around 32 weeks along. This is when the bump will be gorgeous and moms-to-be will still be comfortable. When you select your newborn photographer in your second trimester, it allows us to plan for both sessions. I frequently book 2-3 months out.
- I also recommend this as I only take on a limited amount of newborn sessions a month. Due dates are just a guess and we are not exactly sure when the baby will arrive. I want to make sure both mom and baby are healthy before setting an exact date on the calender. When you book a newborn with me, I hold one of my limited spots for you based on your due date month. Newborn sessions take place between 5-14 days old. Cluster feeding usually occurs around 3/4 days. Planning around this allows the baby to adjust to a schedule. Resulting in the baby sleeping during our session after a full belly.
Is your baby a bit older? No worries - we can still capture that newborn feel. I have photographed babies up to 6 weeks old.
