The Magic of Motherhood
WOW is truly the very first word that comes to mind when I think about the jam-packed weekend of Motherhood Sessions I had.
When I first envisioned what I wanted these studio sessions to look like, I pictured a closeness that could completely capture what the bond between a mother and her child looked like. I wanted them to be elegant yet soft, and every single one of the mothers who entered my Vassalboro, Maine studio made that vision come true.
The Anticipation
As myself and my assistant eagerly waited for our first mother-son duo, we made sure all of the client closet options were hung up and steamed, and that the backdrops were prepped and ready to go.
We set out an assortment of drinks, doughnuts, and muffins - which ended up being the perfect sweet treat to bribe the smiles out of some camera-shy kiddos.
If you were a fly on the wall at any point during the weekend you probably would have seen and heard silly faces, singing, and darn near acrobatics to get the perfect shot.
Capturing the Perfect Moments
When I stood behind the camera, I didn’t realize just how deeply these sessions would resonate with me or the stories they would unfold.
I had no idea that, despite guiding each mother and child—ranging from three months to seven years—through the same poses, every pair would bring their own rhythm, transforming each moment into a unique reflection of their bond.
I was honored to capture the love and bond that I had initially set out to do. I am pleased to also add that I will be continuing to offer these Motherhood sessions year-round!
