Capturing Those Special Moments

There is something truly special about motherhood sessions—the quiet moments, the soft snuggles, and the love that radiates between a mother and her children. Recently, I had the absolute joy of capturing Emily and her two daughters, Isabelle and Iris, in a heartfelt studio motherhood session at Gallagher Photography Studio in Vassalboro, ME.

A Session Full of Love & Memories

This session was particularly meaningful because I’ve had the honor of photographing both girls as newborns and capturing the family during a beautiful tree farm session in the past. However, this was the first time we focused solely on Emily and her girls—a moment to celebrate the incredible bond they share.

We kept the atmosphere warm, relaxed, and natural, allowing for snuggles, giggles, and the sweet in-between moments that make motherhood so special. With a moody studio background and soft, glowing light, the session had an intimate feel, highlighting the deep connection between them.

Letting Moments Happen Naturally

As with any session involving little ones, flexibility is key! Isabelle, the older daughter, wasn’t exactly thrilled about taking pictures at first—and that’s okay. I always allow a full hour for motherhood sessions because I never want children to feel rushed or pressured.

Instead, we took our time, let her get comfortable, and found ways to make the experience enjoyable. Sometimes, the best moments come when we let things unfold naturally, and this session was no exception.

A Heartwarming Reaction

When I delivered the final gallery, Emily’s response was everything a photographer hopes for:

“Aww, I love them so much!! Thank you for doing them and being so patient. We are so lucky to have you taking pictures of our family!!”



Reading those words and knowing I was able to give them memories they’ll cherish forever is exactly why I love what I do.
