Growing Together

I've said it once and I will say it a million more times: I absolutely love creating these connections with my clients and seeing them over the years as their family grows (or grows up).

I met Amy and Will for what was probably my favorite maternity session of the year. It wasn't the final images or even the location that made it my favorite. Honestly, it was Will, standing off to the side of me with the biggest smile on his face. You could tell he not only completely admired his wife, but he was also smitten to be having a baby with her.

As we were walking from one spot to another, we began chatting about the possibility of names. The final choice was Willow, Willow Ruth. If you think the name is super cute, just wait until you hear the why. " Willow is for her dad, Willam and Ruth is my middle name. She has a part of each of us." (Input collective "aweeee" here.)

Sharing the Love

I knew this new family of three was going to be totally in love with each other. I asked Amy if there was something she was looking forward to as the little one gets older, and she stated "I'm looking forward to all the adventures we will go on! Watching her face light up as she discovers something new. It's like I'm discovering it all over again too!"

As a mother of two, AGREED. There is honestly nothing better than watching your children learn something new or fall in love with something you loved as a child. Recently, my daughter started coming home singing sweet little playground songs that I used to sing when I was little. Over this past weekend, I actually taught her the "Skunk in the Barnyard" song. Anyone else recall this one?

Welcoming the New Babe

As adorable as those parenting triumphs are, all parents can admit it's not always easy. Parenting is damn hard. I appreciate the community I have created with my business and hearing stories that all my families have gone through. Often, I hear one story and can provide a solution that I heard from another parent. I have even connected two families before who are going through similar situations - just so they simply know they are not alone.

Amy stated that first 3 months after Willow arrived she was extremely colicky and screamed almost constantly. She didn't sleep very often and there were times Willow was awake for 5-6 hours as a two-week-old.

When I heard Willow was colicky, I had recommended the chiropractor to her. When following up with Amy, it had made such a difference in their day to day!

Client Question: In your own words, define parenthood.

"If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be sacrifice. Being a parent is hard work, but it is also very rewarding and joyful! You are creating the future of generations and that is amazing!" - Amy
